Verse 1

When the road is still before us

And the night is not yet gone

You are faithful in the shadows

You are with us moving on

When we cannot see the ending

Still we know Your promise stands

You will lead Your people onward

Held secure within Your hands

Chorus

There is light ahead

Jesus, You are leading through the dark

There is light ahead

We will trust You through the night

There is light ahead

Verse 2

Every weary heart can hear it

Every trembling soul take courage

Morning mercy will not fail us

Joy will rise beyond the hurt

You have never lost Your people

You have never missed a step

So we walk on in Your goodness

With Your praise still in our breath

Chorus

There is light ahead

Jesus, You are leading through the dark

There is light ahead

We will trust You through the night

There is light ahead

Bridge

You are shining in the darkness

You are stronger than the night

You are steady in the waiting

You will bring us into light

You are with us, You are for us

You will finish what You start

So we lift our eyes with courage

And we trust You through the dark

Bridge

You are shining in the darkness

You are stronger than the night

You are steady in the waiting

You will bring us into light

You are with us, You are for us

You will finish what You start

So we lift our eyes with courage

And we trust You through the dark

Final Chorus

There is light ahead

Jesus, You are leading through the dark

There is light ahead

We will trust You through the night

There is light ahead

The heart behind the song

A song for
hope.

Light Ahead exists to give listeners and gathered worshippers a clear way into hope. A hopeful opener that creates forward movement and invites the listener to look towards God's promise.

Explore the meaning

At its heart, the song treats hope as something to be received before it is performed. The focus is not on musical display, but on helping attention turn towards Jesus with language that feels plain, prayerful and singable.

The title gives the song its centre of gravity. Around that centre, the words and movement of the song hold lifted-eyed trust, making room for personal devotion and shared congregational response.

For listening and worship

For everyday listening, the song offers worship language for moments when hope needs to be remembered and sung, not merely understood.

For churches and worship leaders, it is shaped as an opening encouragement: clear in focus, connected to the wider EP, and intended to serve gathered voices as well as personal prayer.
